Blue Ridge Parkway | ROCKY KNOB INFORMATION STATION (MP 169)

Rocky Knob Information Station on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Rocky Knob Information Station on the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Rocky Knob Information Station is typically open every day from late June until the end of October from 10 AM to 5 PM, but be sure to get the latest schedule on the National Park Service’s official Operating Hours and Seasons web page for the Blue Ridge Parkway before heading out to the park. The facility is housed in a small building, and while closed when I visited, I could see inside and can report that there is a small information desk and two racks of souvenir items. Pubic restrooms are available as well. There are no exhibits that I could see, though a bulletin board is located outside that includes information on area trails and Ranger-led programs.

There is a small parking lot on the right side of the building and an even larger one behind the building. This is a good place to park for those wanting to hike the Rocky Knob area trails, all of which can be accessed from here. For more information, visit the Rocky Knob Hiking Trails web page here on National Park Planner. The exit from the Blue Ridge Parkway for the Information Station is also the turnoff for the Rocky Knob Picnic Area.
