The Northwest Trading Post is a large gift store that also has a snack shop. The building is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but you must exit the Parkway to get to the parking lot. You can buy just about any type of Blue Ridge Parkway souvenir that you can think of, plus sandwiches, fudge, cookies, preserves, and other food stuffs commonly found in “country stores.” This is one of the few places on the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can buy food, and as far as I know, the only place where you don’t have to sit down in a restaurant to be served. Food prices are reasonable. I got a sandwich for $6 and also picked up a few pieces of fudge. The facility has bathrooms, and outside are a few picnic tables and a place to walk your dog. Though not any type of official Visitor Center, you can get Blue Ridge Parkway brochures and other information here.
