The Steestachee Bald View on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a popular overlook with a sweeping view of the mountains and Steestachee Bald, the pointy mountain on the right side of the vista.
If you pay close attention, you can actually see the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is one of the few times that you can see the road winding through the mountains from one of the overlooks, though it’s not evident unless cars are passing through to catch your attention. Look for a notch in the ridgeline.
There is another view of the mountains framed by a tree. I never thought a tree blocking the view would add anything positive to an overlook, but in this case the scene wouldn’t be the same without it. I have included two photos of this composition because you get a uniquely beautiful view depending on whether the photo is zoomed in or out on the mountains.
