Southern Iron Mine Hollow overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway

There are two pullouts for Iron Mine Hollow on the Blue Ridge Parkway that are separated by only a tenth of a mile. A cliff between them makes one continuous parking lot impossible. Both parking areas are small, holding perhaps a half dozen vehicles each.

The view at Iron Mine Hollow is interesting, though it may not appeal to everyone. Two mountains that are very close to the overlook form a V-shape, framing a wide valley beyond them. The view from the southern parking lot is centered exactly on the V and is therefore the better overlook. However, regardless of which one you first stop at, there is no reason to stop at the other.
