There are no French broads here, but there is a narrow view of a river from the French Broad Overlook. During my past visits to the Blue Ridge Parkway, this overlook has been completely overgrown, but it now appears that somebody has cut down some trees to reveal a glimpse of the river and the Parkway bridge. The rest of the overlook is still overgrown. The best view of the French Broad is from the bridge itself. However, it’s not really meant for pedestrians, as all there is to walk on is an elevated curb about half the width of a sidewalk that runs the length of the bridge on either side.
