There is actually a much wider view here at the Cahas Mountain View stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway than that of what I assume is Cahas Mountain (as seen in the photo). However, most everything else is blocked by tall trees. This is a prime example of an overlook that the National Park Service needs to maintain before the vegetation gets too thick and preserving the view becomes a lost cause. Notice the young trees that are just now getting a foothold. Ten years from now these will block this view entirely unless somebody comes in here and cuts them down. What remains is still a nice view, but for how long remains to seen.
No large RVs or vehicles pulling trailers are allowed at this overlook because the parking area is not a pull-through lot that loops back onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. You must back in and out of this parking lot.
