The Mount Pisgah Recreation Area is the southern most park on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For those unfamiliar with the concept of a “park” on the Parkway itself, in addition to scenic overlooks there are 14 recreational areas that are similar to state or country parks. Amenities vary, but you will find campgrounds, large picnic areas, lodges, and hiking trails. The idea of the parks was to give motorists a place to stop and get out for some physical activities. Some of the parks were created when the Parkway first began construction, while others came about years later when large tracts of land were donated to the National Park Service.
Here at Mount Pisgah you will find plenty of hiking trails, a campground, a picnic area, and a restaurant and lodge. The Mount Pisgah Inn is one of only two lodges on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and one of only a handful of places where you can get a meal. The other lodge, the Peaks of Otter Lodge, is located at Mile Post 85.
