The Hickory Spring Parking Area on the Blue Ridge Parkway is the location of a fresh water spring that you can access from a quasi-well. However, I’ve was here twice and never saw more than a trickle of water flowing, so I’m not sure if you can ever fill up your water bottle. You have a better chance of getting some water at the Dripping Rock Parking Area two miles to the north. Regardless of where you get it, the water must be boiled before drinking.

While not the point of the pullout, if you look across the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is a view of the mountains.
