Trails: Appalachian Trail
Picnic Tables: None
The view at Punch Bowl Mountain Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway is largely obscured by forest, including many tall trees right next to the parking area. However, it is still a popular stop because it serves as parking for the Appalachian Trail. The northbound entrance to the AT is located near the center of the parking area. The southbound entrance is on the other side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. If facing the road, look to your right and you will see the trailhead marked by a post with a white blaze on it. This is the way you would go to hike to Punch Bowl Mountain and Bluff Mountain. The parking lot holds a half dozen vehicles.
