The National Colonial Farm Visitor Center is operated by the Accokeek Foundation and serves as the visitor center for Piscataway Park. It is mainly a large gift store, but you can pick up a National Park Service brochure on Piscataway Park and a National Colonial Farm brochure and trail map, as well as buy snacks and even fishing bait (a fishing pier is located behind the building on the Potomac River). The Visitor Center is staffed by Accokeek Foundation employees, not National Park Service employees.
The Visitor Center is open from March through the end of November, Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 AM to 4 PM. It is closed the rest of the year. Times can always change, so before making travel plans be sure to visit the official Accokeek Foundation’s Visitor Information web page for the latest schedule.
The closest National Park Service-operated visitor center is at Fort Washington Park, which is located on the other side of Piscataway Creek from the eastern side of Piscataway Park. The Visitor Center is open daily from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. There is no real reason to visit Fort Washington Park just for the sake of getting information on Piscataway Park, as the Accokeek Foundation employees can tell you all that you need to know.
