Carriage exhibit at the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum on the mainland in St. Marys, Georgia
In addition to a small exhibit area at the Cumberland Island National Seashore Visitor Center, there are two larger museums run by the National Park Service. The main museum is the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum located about two blocks from the Visitor Center, though its operating hours make it impossible for most people traveling to the island to visit it. The second is the Ice House Museum, a smaller museum located on the island at the Dungeness ferry dock. Both museums focus mainly on the human history of Cumberland Island.
