Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park holds Military Living History Demonstrations at the field in front of the Visitor Center. True Civil War history buffs won’t want to miss one of these, but you’ll have visit the park on select weekends from April through October. Some events are held on both Saturday and Sunday, others on just one weekend day. For a schedule, check the National Park Services official Calendar web page for the park.
For these demonstrations, the park brings in Civil War re-enactors from around the country, both Union and Confederate, who will demonstrate Civil War military drilling and weapons firing. They come complete with uniforms and will talk about various topics, such as soldier life, uniforms, and weapons. Actual cannon and muskets or rifles will be fired (without projectiles, of course). The battle itself is never reenacted at the park as no reenactments of actual fighting area allowed at any National Parks.
