Palisades Unit Main Page

The southernmost boat ramp within Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is located in the Paces Mill section of the Palisades unit. There are actually two boat ramps, one for trailer-launched boats and the other hand-launched watercraft. The trailer-launch ramp is located off on its own, away from the main parking lot at Paces Mill. Signs point the way once you enter the park. Keep in mind that you can launch hand-paddled watercraft from here as well, but you must park in the main lot, which depending on where you find a space could be up to a quarter mile away. The five parking spaces at the trailer-launch ramp are only for vehicles with trailers. See the Directions page for location.

For those planning to travel north, there are plenty of rapids caused by large rocks just below the surface all the way to the Powers Island unit. Therefore, northern travel is probably not a great idea in a motorboat. This ramp is best suited as a launching point for trips south and out of the park. National Park Planner only covers the National Park land, so there are no reports on the website for sections of the Chattahoochee River below Paces Mill.
