NAVAL LIVE OAKS TRAILS
The Naval Live Oaks Area of Gulf Islands National Seashore is the only section of the park with traditional hiking trails. Trails in other sections of the park are nothing more than short nature trails.
The layout of the trails is like a road system, meaning to hike a particular trail you must first hike to it on another trail. Thus, to say the Andrew Jackson Trail is 2.4 miles long does no good without knowing that you must hike a mile on other trails just to get to it. Only the Brackenridge Nature Trail and the North South Trail can be hiked on their own, for these are the only trails that start at the Naval Live Oaks parking lot.

FLORIDA NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL
Though not a National Park Service trail, the northern terminus of the Florida National Scenic Trail is at Fort Pickens. This is a 1,300 mile trail that runs from Big Cypress National Preserve next to the Everglades all the way to Fort Pickens. You can pick up the trail at the Fort Pickens Campground and Battery Langdon. The last three miles of the trail starting at Battery Langdon are open to bikes. See the Florida Trail Association web page for complete information on the trail.
