GENERAL INFORMATION
The Fort Pickens Visitor Center is located in the sally port (entrance) corridor of Fort Pickens. It serves mainly as a book / souvenir store. If you are looking to learn about Fort Pickens or the natural history of Gulf Islands National Seashore, check out the Fort Pickens Discovery Center, formerly known as the Fort Pickens Museum. It is located in a separate building just a short walk from the fort.
OPERATING HOURS
The Fort Pickens Visitor Center is open daily from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, except when closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Times can always change, so before making travel plans be sure to visit the National Park Service’s official Fort Pickens Area Operating Hours web page for the latest schedule.
AMENITIES
- Information desk where you can pick up a free park brochure, trail map, and other information. If you plan to do a self-guided tour of Fort Pickens, be sure to get your Self-Guided Tour brochure here.
- Fort Pickens Ranger-guided tour schedule is posted on the door. Tours meet at the Visitor Center.
- Book / souvenir store
- Restrooms are located just outside the fort walls to the left of the sally port.
SCHEDULING YOUR TIME
Other than picking up a brochure or buying a book or souvenir, there is nothing to do at the Fort Pickens Visitor Center. Plan to spend no more than 15 minutes.
