Midway Picnic Area is part of the Midway Campground complex located on the Tamiami Trail on the east side of Big Cypress National Preserve. Eight covered tables are located along the lake shore. Grills are available for cookouts. These tables are open to everyone, so you don’t need to be camping at Midway to picnic here. Modern restrooms are available.

Fishing is allowed in Midway Lake with the proper Florida fishing license. However, no swimming is allowed due to the presence of alligators. A warning sign states “Fish at your own risk,” so even fishermen are subject to being eaten.
